Taken in Rocky Mountain National Park. The sun broke the horizon and really lit up the aspen.

Comments and critiques always welcome, and thanks for looking,

Morris

That's some great light Morris! Beautiful from the front to the back. Shows that it really pays to get up early!

Hi Morris,

Pretty spectacular conditions. Personally, I think the yellow highlights in the snow and fg log are a little strong. Was this taken at sunrise? If it were mine, I'd try to open up the tonal values of the greens in the middle tree and mountain. Really amazing capture. Great comp and web sharpening.

Awesome, dynamic light- nice shot. The camera position makes me feel like I want to move to the left and swing the camera back a little to the right for better balance- this may not have been possible for any number of reasons. The lights in the foreground snow seem a little hot to me and the sky might benefit from being darkened a bit. Just some thoughts.

Beautiful! Seems a little strong on the yellows, unless it really looked like this in the sunrise - which it well might have!
Nice!

Like already mentioned I would cut down on the saturation of trees just a bit. But otherwise, you've captured a great moment here, Morris.

This scene just glows, Morris! The dark tree in the center and the little break in the sky give this a lot of depth.

Hi Morris,
I really like the warmth in this image. I tend to like stronger yellow tones to warm my images. Whether this was accurate to the scene as you saw it does not matter to me. It is a beautiful piece of art!

Lovely lighting on the aspens and the hints of magenta in the clouds.

Very dramatic light, Morris. The sky color is really special. There's a sense here you're right in the midst of the color.

Beautiful light Morris. Nice comp as well for my tastes. Based on my experiences in the park, it seems to me that this capture is perfect. On my MacBook taking it a little bluer might make it appear more realistic but I think the image as posted is actually a higher fidelity image.

I like the image very much.

Morris, I like how you contrasted the lit up trees to the background! On my monitor the snow in the foreground looks rather bright, but this might be purely a matter of opinion. Anyway it is a very pleasant shot.

Beautiful light and scene. I echo the thoughts of backing off the saturation a touch on the trees, but of course, strictly persona taste. Very nicely done, Morris.

Definitely some crazy cool light here! Yeah, perhaps a little decrease in the saturation of the aspens, but I know how saturated that light can be, so maybe it's all good. Really, Morris, this is an amazing scene. :toast:

Outstanding light and composition Morris. To me this is a very unique image since you don't see many scenes that have both magentas and yellows at the same time.

The light was very golden and strong, but I will pull back some on the trees sat.

Ill be honest and say that this doesnt grab me the way it should. The subject matter is terrific, good conditions, so the only thing that must not be working is the comp. I think the main problem is the brightness of the immediate fg (coupled with the feeling of yellow--yellow and snow are not a good association) so perhaps taming the brightness might help, but unfortunately for me i think the problem is that the fg interest doesnt match the interest of mountains emerging from the clouds, and due to the lighting im drawn towards the less interesting part. Just my take--obviously the minority view here. Pics you shoot in a couple days should blow this away
EDIT: repost is an improvement, but comp trumps all....

Morris: One of my favorite spots on the planet. I kind of like the original. For me it has more impact even though the snow may be a touch yellow. I see some dried grass poking up so some of the color on the ground may be from that subtle color reflection. Very nice capture of a wonderful moment.>=))>
