Sunrise in the Dunes

Dear all

It's been a while since I've last posted here on NPN - mostly because I didn't do much photography recently. Now, I'm back from a trip to the deserts of Oman, and I have some photographs I'd like to be shared and critiqued.

The shot posted here was taken in a landscape dominated by huge red dunes in the Omani part of the "Empty Quarter" (towards the Saudi Arabian border) during sunrise. A fantastic place to be.

Techs: Nikon D90, 12-24/4 DX, tripod, two exposures blended to maintain exposure in the sky.

Beautiful image Basil. The blue and orange colors compliment each other very well and light on those rippled dunes is sublime. Might try cropping the left side to near the distant hill and some of that blank sky but this is very nice as is.

Really nice textures/lines/color in the larger version. Composition is very nice too. My only suggestion would be to try a crop where the the image is rotated slightly clockwise so that the left and right horizon lines match. Nice one.
