Delightful little bird!
Nice pose, detail, and BG.
Seems a little tight in the frame - I'd personally leave a little more room on the top and in front - but just fine as is!

Great picture! I love the sharpness and the colours! I really like American Goldfinches, but I haven't been able to see any yet. It looks like they might come down where I live in the winter, so I hope I will see some!

Hi Marc: Looks like you have nice sharpness on the bird, and a nice soft background. Image feels a little bright to me. The composition feels very tight, especially on the left. Since you noted 30% of full frame, maybe you have more room there?

Wonderful little bird in some great light. Nice feather details and head turn. Nice clean background. I agree that it seems a little tight in the frame, but not too bad. Nicely done. :toast:

Lovely pose and head-turn. Excellent detail too. I'd be tempted to try a it more space all around.

Great lighting, wouldn't have thought flash was used. Well captured subtle colors and a nicely colored background. Sorry to heap it on, but also feel this is a bit tight. Perhaps a little bit oversharpened larger view imho.

Marc,

I think the pose of the finch; including the head turn, is lovely. I love the soft, muted colors of a goldfinch in winter and this shows them well. The background is very appealing and I like the way the twig the bird is perched on has gentle curves to it. I do think the cropping was a bit tight though and would loosen it up some if this were mine.

The bird looks good Marc and I like the clean look but I agree that the subject is too tight, both right and left.

Nice detail and subdued colours Marc. I'd be tempted to give it a little more room.

cheers
