Brambling (Female)

Brambling.
Got loads of females at the new pool but not many males with good heads yet. They,ll probably leave when they colour up.One of my favourite birds.
This shot again shows the value of the right viewpoint to get as much as possible in focus. - even like this at f5.
Any lower and the dof drops dramatically.
The reddish colours in the water are oak leaves . No idea where the other hues came from !!
D200
Sigma 100-300
Iso 640
80th sec @ f5
Neat image, wayward tit cloned, sharpened czm
Crop from horizontal

You could shave with that Brambling's eye it's that sharp. I think you've just about cracked this pool shot game, John.

Thanks both. Its that trusted old D200   . There are no letters readable on the buttons !!
I wish I could have afforded the 2.8 Sigma 300 though.
Thanks again.

You have got some detail in that bird John especially the large version, I am just a little unsure on the background on this though the water looks a little strange, might just be me, but you are certainly getting the variety of birds

Lovely, sharp image, John. Good advert for the D200 (mine still gets a lot of use), and for the photographer!

Another stunner John :toast:

I agree with Karen about the background, not sure if its a result of the wayward tit being cloned out.

You certainly get the absolute best out of that lens John (one of my favourite lenses). Another cracker.
