Last sunday at the shore of the frozen Lake Neusiedl in the Eastern part of Austria, just a few seconds before sunrise.

A nice expanse and color contrast, I just wish for a stronger subject, foreground or background.

The beautiful warm color makes youthink this is a warm scene - but obviously not. Nicely composed but, as Paul mentioned, I wish it had a main focus.

The large version certainly works for me as it brings me closer to the "real" experience. I like what you did with the fg - just a bit of "stuff" for the eye to get into the scene. What I also appreciate in the large version is the opposite shore, seen as thin line. It is a small feature in the composition, but it adds lot imo. An image that is about a feeling and atmosphere, that's why I like it!

Very nice, Peter. You got another great moment here. The foreground is "crowded" enough to keep the connection with the horizon. The wide composition describes the place well though feels a little empty on the right after a while. Together with the slight green/cyan color falloff which I don't like that much I guess the left side of the shot alone might have a greater visual impact. That would be supported by the subtle lines in the water ahead which emphasize the depth very well.

Its a beautiful moment at the end of the day watching the sun go down and watching the ice shift around, hearing it crack and moan. You have conveyed that here very well Peter. Cheers

I love what you did with this scene. The fg works for me here. There's a lot of atmoshere in here......that's what makes this shot in my opinion.

The light and colors are just perfect. As for the composition, the larger version tells a lot more than the smaller version, even solving part of the "lack-of-subject" problem. Even so, probably chosing larger stones or a cluster of them could have drawn the attention to the foreground a bit more, but it still a great picture.
