Ring-necked duck

From yesturday evening. Taken in late evening light. I am working on getting landing shots of this species. Fast little buggers. I love how they use their feet to slow down and help change directions when landing. I have had a tough time getting around any flying ducks this year. They all seem to just want to sit on the water and sleep and eat all the time. Very frustrating. I like this shot, but it is too large a crop. Some day a full frame version will be mine, but for now this will have to do.

I especially like the wing position and POV, it's nicely composed..
Great job on the exposure in this evening light too.
I'm certain you'll get the one you're after with time Ron :toast:

Very impressive - I figured this was yours as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Good flight position to show off the wings.

Great capture, Ron. I like very much the flight position of the bird, the perfect exposure, the good sharpness and the nice detail, in particular the eye.

Great detail on the head especially and the body. You had good timing to catch him with a slight tilt as he glided in to show the dorsum of the body. Solid image Ron. :toast:

Nice shot. I like the flight pose and I love the way the eye pops out of that dark head. The green OOF trees add interest to the BG. Well done.

I never get tired of looking at your flight shots. I like how the duck is just above the tree line to really make it stand out againist the blue background. Good detail and that yellow eye reallys stands out, well done.
