Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the absence last month. Hate when things get busy and I don't get my daily dose of NPN. The big blizzard hit and I knew the sustained 40-60mph winds would sculpt some nice drifts. Nothing special here just a snow drift that caught my eye. I was going to deepen the shadows in post but instead decided to leave it softer. Hopefully this works.
I really enjoy how scale gets lost in snow patterns

Great winter abstract, the line in the ULHC pulls me eye a bit but that's a minor nit. Love the warm light hitting the snow mixed with the soft blue shadows.

Yeah, is it from 6" or from an airplane. A very pleasing use of lines, light, and shadow.
Ditto on the line in the ulc breaking the rhythm, but not a deal breaker. Love that sharp ridge at the bottom.

The contrast and lines are very appealing. There feels to be a bit of red/magenta in the whites. That might be intentional, but could see pulling that back a bit for a more neutral white.

Excellently composed. I have something like this on my mind, but I did not manage so far. I love the elegance and softness of this.

I envy great snow shots like this. I see now one has to get close for the light and contrast thereof. Snow is about a picture within a picture? Well done!

this is gorgeous Anthony. Really gorgeous. Maybe the only nit is the little thing at the top left corner, too close to the corner and it pulls a bit the eye out of the frame...The shadows are great like they are...well done! :)

Thanks again to all.
Tony, I will try to pull back the magentas a bit and see how that looks. Always good to tweak images from others points of view.

Morris, funny stuff. This is approx. 8 ft from a higher drift

I too see how the ulhc pulls a bit. Not sure how to tackle that as I don't want to crop losing other elements.
Cloning is an option but Im not good at making that look natural. Something to ponder I guess.

Thanks for all your input

Anthony,

I love this! I'm glad you left the shadows as presented. What looks like noise is what I hope and expect is just some very fine detail of the snow's texture. That I think almost trumps the shadow play... ;-) The curves, patterns and flow from bottom to top are just excellent. Great eye and a beautifully crafted image.

Good choice in leaving the shadows softer, it works well with the nice curves. Great eye with the composition as well.

I'm glad you left it alone. Softer is better in most case imo. Love the curving lines and beautiful light here.

The lines and the movement that you have achieved with this composition are superb, Anthony. The light and textures are also wonderful. One knows that either the wind is blowing or it sure has been. Fantastic.

I really love the colors and light here, but im not totally sold on the comp, the lines seem somewhat chaotic to me, i think i would prefer something simpler.

Whoa! I love the light. The subtle secondary shadow curves are almost as sweet as the main snow ridges. Nicely done, Anthony. :toast:
