Welcome to Avian RL. Love these birds. Just don't have any good images of them yet even though we get a ton of them here in FL. I like the comp and the nice light on the face. Looks sharp at this size. Well done. If I may suggest that you post all of your camera settings along with the amount of crop with your images. That information really helps in critiquing. Also, please post a larger version along with the 720px image, that also helps a ton in evaluating sharpness and detail. Again, welcome and I look forward to more of your images.

Hi RL, welcome to NPN! Beautiful bunting in nice light. The clipped tail is unfortunate, and the tip of the perch looks like it was cloned, perhaps? In terms of composition, I'd think about taking some off the top and adding some on the side if you have it for more of a horizontal comp. I'll look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to NPN's avian critique gallery, it is a great place to learn. You will find that you learn as much from giving thoughtful critiques as getting them.

The clipped tail is unfortunate, try when possible to get the whole bird in the frame unless it is a portrait or closeup. For me this might look better if the comp were landscape instead of a vertical since the bird's leaning forward. Must admit the perch does look like some vegetation was cloned over it, it may be natural but it does look a little odd.

It's challenging to photograph the blues of this species and you did well. I like the eye contact.
