I'm home from the tax office (closed because of the storm) so I decided to brighten up my day by posting a summer image. Shot this while lying on my back (same flower from my 2 dreamy ones). While the flower is quite centered, I think the horizon as such makes the centered flower okay. Thoughts on that?

Oh...and don't expect any "winter" flora from me after the storm. I HATE winter!!!

Great POF and nice use of light Beth. I am going back and forth about the horizon in the shot, but I think the fact that it looks like water a bit (due to the color) that it works for me.

Stay safe, stay warm, survive the storm!

I like the horizon in the shot....gives a sense of the environment that the flower exists in.

I like the color palette and light Beth. The centered composition is fine with me. I'm undecided about the blue. I certainly like the color with the yellow flower but I'm tempted to crop down below - not saying that I would but that's my first thought anyway. Interesting image. I plan to revisit.

Beth:
Without reading what others have said, I was scrolling up and down and feeling undecided about the blue horizon. The image is strong and clean without it and can certain stand on its own. However, adding the horizon adds depth and changes the mood completely..almost melancholic.. the flower suddenly feel more lonely by itself in the desert. So it depends what you want to convey; nice picture or moody picture!

Having said the above, I like images that make me think. :toast:

Thanks for the comments. Very appreciated. I'm glad to hear thoughts about the horizon as my intention was to make the flower seem desolate in a desert environment (altho' it wasn't in a desert!). I wanted the bg to be kind of like a mirage effect. I'll be fooling around at some point with some "artsy" stuff to enhance the mirage mood.

Beth: I like this and the horizon/BG works very nicely for me. If you hate winter we always have room for tax folks in Texas but of course you won't have as much work here as in Illinois  C'mon, bundle up and get out there  . >=))>

I personally like the horizon in this Beth, Makes me feel like this flower is searching for the sun. Nicely done!
