Frozen Glow

I didn't manage to find any big landscape compositions that I liked on this day, but I was attracted to the sunburst-like frozen waves radiating around this rock in a riffle in a local stream. The low morning light made the vertical sections of ice glow.

Canon 50D
Sigma 17-70mm. f/2.8
1/5 sec. @ f/16; ISO 100
Tripod; Mirror up via LCD focusing; 2-sec. timer

It's beautiful in an unusual way, it almost doesn't matter what it is, just that the image conveys cold, , serenity, with just a hint of movement around the dark center. I like it.

Neat abstract Wayne. At first I wasn't so sure about it, but it really starts to grow on you. The designs in the ice is what attracts me, along with the pale color. Nice job.

Lovely abstracts, it's kind of yin and yang with the ice in the bottom half vs. that in the top. The amount of dirt and dust on the snow/ice is distracting to me, as is the upper left corner, but it is pleasing to look at nonetheless.
