This small stand of cypress trees isn't too far from my home and has always intrigued me, so I finally got around to shooting it a while back. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. Compression is hurting both small and large versions - had to save the large version at a 5, smaller at 7.

LARGER version available.

D2X w/ Tokina ATX 12-24 @ 19mm
.8 sec @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Singh Ray Circ. Polarizer
Tripod
Capture One 6 PRO, CS4, TK's Lum, Sat, Glow, Sharpening actions

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Nice image Bill, the blown highlights in the sky take away some from the otherwise beautiful scene. It looks like a tough scene, exposure wise, bracketing a couple of exposures and doing a blend would help it a lot IMO.

Sometimes we have neat little places in our own back pocket, but that great image is just over that way just a 1/2 days drive away. And pulls us away have to agree with Morris. Love the color combination's and the reflections.

Sweet shot, Bill! Although the white sky doesnt bother me much, i prefer this with it cropped out, i think a square crop with 50/50 balance is good enough, and then any question about the sky is resolved

Lovely shot, Bill. The colors are wonderful and the deep shadows create a nice power in the brighter areas.

I think I do prefer it with the sky cropped, but this is really nice Bill. The reflected sky seems a touch oversaturated on my monitor.

Works really Great Bill. I like how the upper and the lower half have contrasting, complementary colors. That makes this shot very effective!

Interesting image with lots of contrast. I like the warm glow on the cypress and the murky reflections. I think a crop is in order somewhere - either off the top or the bottom. Maybe the top to eliminate the large areas of visible sky.

I love these shots, Bill. I lived in southern Florida for several years and I always tried this kind of shot and I think you've done an excellent execution of the cypress trees. They're all over the place and I find that the chaos involved in them is difficult to shoot but I think you've nailed this one. The sky doesn't bother me at all, the lighting is superb, the sky's reflection in the water is great and detail is wonderful. Very nice.

This is a beautiful scene, Bill. It is, perhaps a bit complex and the highlight areas from the sky and in the reflection are somewhat distracting, but overall, a good image.

Really like your shot here Bill, maybe a touch more color in the sky would be even better but even as is, it's stunning.

This certainly doesn't look like it's suffering to me! Beautiful color and detail. I can't imagine what it looks like in print. Have you ever posted anything with these trees before? I seem to remember them, ot at least think I do.

To be high key, or to be low key? That is the question! I love it as is. Each viewer can choose how they might crop (top or bottom) to have the photo meet their needs! So, everyone wins! You may have found a new niche: The Egalitarian Photographer. :toast:

The dark reflection of the light trees makes this a real winner, Bill. Seriously, I don't know how you pull these things off, but they always look great.

That is a very pretty image Bill. The colors are what really sets this off. I wonder why none of the colors show up as reflections in the water?

Superb, Bill. The color and your composition with the three main trees is exquisite. Then there's that gorgeous color. Beautiful.

The water is so dark and mysteriously "swampy." It's in marked contrast to the warm, "airy" looking stand of trees and the colorful display they make.
