The spectator here is a Palm Warbler and the photo was taken about a month ago in Grand Cayman. I purposefully cropped to locate the little bird far to the rhs so the intersecting wires superimposed on the sea and breakers in the background is central to the image.

I posted this yesterday and just noticed a comment from Larry Fischer about his uncertainty as to whether his image constituted an example of "texture" or was "lines". You could certainly say the same about my image. I know that when we think of texture we generally think of a surface. However, one alternate and common definition of texture is "the distinctive physical composition or structure of something, especially with respect to the size, shape and arrangement of its parts" (see: http://www.yourdictionary.com/texture). So, by this definition, lines or no lines, we should be able to term these images examples of texture.

3 commentsfirst I have to say that I love this cute beautiful bird and how you well captured him framed between these bars. I can see texture in his plumage and in the rusty bars. Following dictionary also the grate could be texture. Stan will settle the issue. He is the boss.
This is a very quirky comp, Steve, i think your idea worked brilliantly here. The fact that you made the grate central to the comp is enough to qualify this for the theme, IMO. Cool shot.
