Red Hot

by Lorna Taylor

Gallery: FloraPosted January 20, 2011489 views35 comments
Shot against a black background, lots of defused natural light, a small reflector,Iso 100,2.0 sec, f11, 300mm lens with extension tube, polarizer, tripod and remote. Some spot removal of five bits of pollen on one of the pedals and a little clarity on the center.

These are not my favorite flower to photograph but I loved how this one had not full opened and it was just saying shoot me I am so sexy!!!! So Hope I was successful in capturing Red Hot Cyclamen allure!

Very pretty Lorna! I have never tried to shoot cyclamen, they look like difficult flowers to shoot. This one works pretty well for me though. I think you were successful!

Love it. It has a luxurious look to it, as if the petals are in repose against the stem.

That sure is some sexy red Lorna. Great form and textures you have there, I like how at the centre of the flower you have totally different colours. The kids weren't raiding the fridge when this was taken  was it. Cheers

What a beautiful photo of a splendid specimen. I love all here: composition, angle, depth, light, color. Cyclamens are difficult models but this image is really awesome.
Take care.

I guess all I can say is that I'm really glad I didn't bother to post my last stab at one of these. As fine an image of a cyclamen as I recall seeing. Exceptionally fine image for my tastes.

This is a beautiful take on this flower! When I look at them, the look so elegant (and sexy in this case!), but as soon as I start shooting, they look awkward and gangly. You translated the spirit of this flower so well with your point of view. Very well done!
