Man Without a Camera

My good friend Lon Overacker did this nice shot of me a few days ago. Aside from wandering around looking for photographs, we spent a good deal of time working with TK's masks. It was great fun, and I learned a lot!

Music is my other creative outlet. The guitar in the picture was custom made by my friend Michael Hornick of Shanti Guitars. The instrument is one of a kind. It was my retirement present to myself.

Kind Regards to All My NPN Friends! :toast:

What a piece of work Preston! And I mean the guitar btw... Very nice portrait - who did you say was the photographer? I'll have to hire that guy.

Preston plays a sweet tune folks. A multi-talented guy with a bottomless pit of knowledge too!

Thanks for stopping by and spending some time. Always a pleasure!

Lon

Nice portrait!
This would be an interesting thread:
"What hobbies/passions do you have, in addition to photography? "

Hi Preston, Nice to meet you here. That is a great photo of you that Lon took, and that guitar looks beautiful. Wish I could hear you playing it.

It's very interesting to me how many photographers are also musicians. I'm not, but so many others are. This is an excellent portrait!
Lon, you might want to consider a career in portrait photography. Oh, I guess you already are. Your subjects are just trees.

I'm starting to feel like my appreciation of the guitar isn't quite enough to make me a photographer. I have this itch to give it (guitar) a shot, but then again - There's so much to listen to now.

"I have this itch to give it (guitar) a shot, but then again - There's so much to listen to now. "

Pete,

Like photography, playing an instrument engages your motor skills, your mind, and your heart. It is something one can 'lose' themselves in, and I find that the two avocations compliment one another very nicely. Neither of them make me much money, but each lend richness to my life; and that is priceless.

While music is certainly worth listening to, making it yourself offers deep rewards. So, beg or buy a decent intrument and commit to it. You'll be glad you did!

Sounds great, Stan! I'm always up to pick a few tunes. Give me holler if you come out this way, and I'll do the same.

Preston,

Not surprising to see you and a guitar together, many talented photographers are musically inclined. As was I, piano however. Thanks as always for your carefully considered comments on my posts and you suggestions ( critiques ) are always helpful.
