I like these b&w ducks that winter in Switzerland Lakes, even if when I meet them it's always cloudy and rainy.

I too love the b and w ducks. Here, where I live, the ring-necked duck is my fav. Very nice exposure and detail on this bird Monica. The eyes are just super against the overall grey, black, and white tones of the image. Nice!

Hey Monica, this is a fine image. Love those piercing eyes. Good exposure, must be tough to get it with the contrasts of color.

The head on pose works very well for this duck, Monica. I think it's because both eyes are so clearly visible. Lovely exposure. I like the ripples and the ripple distorted reflection too. I'm not sure but the water seems to show some noise. I think I expect it to be more shiny. However, maybe what we are looking at is what it really is! Very interesting and appealing shot.

Thanks everybody for the comments thus far.
Steve, the weather was very overcast and showery so the water was very dark with only superficial reflections. I 'd like to come back there in a sunny day, but after all I harmonized with this dull atmosphere.
Rich, only three days!

Interesting angle, Monica, and lovely reflection. If it were mine, I'd be tempted to try a vertical comp.

Nice shot- excellent frontal pose (very pleasant with ducks), and the exposure of the dark feathers is perfect (good it was a cloudy day)- well done, Fabio

I like that look in the eyes, it's a dead on POV of the face here Monica.
And those eyes jump out against the dark plumage nicely also..
Cool reflection, nice comp & details
PS - Thanx for the kudos on that dove, I'm getting some mileage out of it
It was published in Nature's Best Photography awhile back also..

Nice head on view of this guy...he's really checking you out! I like to see how much water they push when swimming and you've portrayed that nicely here. Well done! Sharon

Nice exposure on this duck Monica! I think the overcast weather really helps with exposure on these ducks..at least for me it does. Good detail and eye contact as well.

Very nice image Monica, great sharpness and I like those eyes. He looks like a duck with an attitude and would like you to vacate the premises.

Very nice Monica. Very nice job with some tough lighting. I like the overall dark tones. It is great that you captured both eyes.
