An Island

Photography is like my oasis, an island that I retreat to to find peace, when things are going crazy or are chaotic in my life. That's what I saw in this intimate scene when trying to cross the creek, I just had to set up and capture it. I really like that my eye follows the water around and around the island of ice and the delicate ice formations along the edge. My wife doesn't like this photo so much(my biggest fan and worst critic) she say's it looks like a sunny side up egg floating on water, oh well.I have cropped to 4*5, there was a stick intruding from the top and rocks to the right.

Please let me know what you think of the conversion, processing and comp. Thank you for commenting on my last photo and thanks for any and all comments on this photo.

Now that you mention it, it does look like an egg! I actually like it quite a bit, and think the processing is excellent. My only nit is that I wish there was a bit more room at the top.

For me this works really well and I think it has quite some symbolism. Wether this is because of the title and your words or not I do not know. It is anyway well composed and well presented.

Very Nice. I would also like some more space at the top.

I hear you guys, I would like some more room up top too but there is a log and some rocks that did not fit. :frown: Thanks for the comments. Cheers

Water texture is fantastic and B&W plays it up nicely. Hey, I like the egg genre.

Tony I knew you would, Thanks for the comment. The masks worked great at bringing all the textures out.

Raymond,

I hear ya - especially about the wife finding things in the images. My wife always sees an animal or something... like an egg sunny side up and she doesn't like things that are blurry...

Anyway, sure glad you stopped to photograph this. The water does work beautifully flowing around the ice-capped rock. I immediately thought about more room up top, but you've explained that, so thanks for mentioning it. In a little scene like this, I'm guessing the intruding stick possible could have been removed? and floated on downstream to find a new home?

Nice work with the processing too. Well done.

Very cool shot, Raymond. I can see that egg, but probably would not have come up with that without you mentioning it. The soft water looks great in contrast with the sharp ice. I too wish for a little more room up top, but know why you didn't do it. Nice work.
