Polar bear

It was great to met this guy late in the afternoon. He was eating a caribou carcass. We were there watching him about 2 or 3 hours.
I like the contrast between white and green. I was thinking about moving the bear more towards the right but I didn’t like to cut the rock situated on the right and the bush.
Taken in summer 2009 near Maguse River in Nunavut, Canada
Canon 1D Mk3
300mm f2.8 +x2
f 5.6
1/2500
ISO 500
Tripod and crop from the top and bottom to create the pano.

Feedback and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

The larger image looks much better. The bear is very sharp and the color is good. I think I would crop some off of the right side. It would not have to be a lot, but it would help the comp.

I see what you mean with the rocks/bush, composition looks good to me for that reason. I would blur the background a bit to get rid of the 'noise' there.

I like the pano idea a lot Oscar although I might add back just a little top and bottom - just my personal preference of course. With the distances involved here I think that the bear's head is a little soft from atmospheric effects, likewise the background appears to show heat waves but I'm just guessing (normal and I rather like the effect). It's great to see some habitat with the bear! I'm glad the bear had something to eat, they are struggling in many parts of the north as I'm sure you know.

Hi Oscar! What strikes me most here is the habitat; not the kind I would immediately imagine a polar bear in! I like the panoramic crop and also the heat waves in the BG add to the habitat/polar bear contrast. Although I do understand your considerations regarding not wanting to cut the rock on the right, I do find the subject placement a bit too centered.
