Salto Hacha Sunset
by Edward Nunez
I spent a month visiting my parents in Venezuela, and also making my second trip to Canaima National Park there. Believe it or not, I grew up in Venezuela in the same state where Canaima and Angel Falls are, but never during my years growing up I had the chance to go. I made the promise to go as frequent as I can on my trips back to Venezuela.
I was 4 days in Canaima, so you will see some images from there as I will post some of them. Let me know when you get sick.
After a hike around other areas of the park, our trip back to the village happened maybe 30 minutes before this moment. You need to take a "curiara" (wooden boat) back, but luckily I made really good friend with one native Pemon guide, and he told me I could stay and he can get another curiara later to take us back to the village. He knew I wanted to wait for the good light. This is the last sun light hitting the Salto Hacha (Hacha Falls).
Any comments, suggestion/critique for improvement is always appreciated.

16 commentsThe light is simply gorgeous here! That it was reflected in the falls themselves really makes this one special. That elegant looking tree provides a great counterpoint to the falls, though I wish it was a bit higher in the sky.
A very beautiful image, and I hope to visit someday soon!

Chris, this one is a series of falls that feed the Canaima Lagoon, which feeds a river that eventually join other major rivers in the area. If you see to the right of the falls, you can see a hint of other falls in there.
