A Fleeting Glimpse

Thanks again for the comments on my last post "The Pyramid". Here is another image I did get just before sunrise that morning after the snowstorm up at Mount Assiniboine Provincial Park. With the clouds moving fast, I saw this brief opportunity to get a quick shot of Naiset Peak in the clouds surrounded in pre-dawn light

For some reason I find this photo hard to critique (to explain what I like), but I do really enjoy it.

James, I really like the whispy clouds coming off the peak. A subtle image for sure. But I think the over-the-top magenta is too strong.

James, this has a very mysterious feel too it and I really love the comp. I'd agree on a previous post, this is coming through on my monitor ( which I calibrated yesterday) too magentaish, for my taste anyway. :toast:

The interesting point about this image is, that the saturation for magenta is not set very high +10. Even the Tint setting in Lightroom is not pushed much to the right. Here is another version that is adjusted a bit more to compensate

Mucho mystery. The color works for me on an artistic level.

Redo on my monitor brings out the red more and looks more "natural" if I may be so bold. However the original may be others cup of tea. However that mysterious mood and brooding feel comes through solidly in both images strongly. My preference is the second but that is not meant in anyway to disparage the 1st.

Maybe too simple for some, but beautiful if you pause to look! :toast:

Thanks for the input everyone  It is a simple image, but it does have a sense of mystery. I did process this image from an artistic perspective. I also isolated the peak because it felt right to me, and this image reminded me of the experience I had while being "on top of the world". Here is the image without the cropping. The not much processing on this image. You can see that I was in the clouds !

Genius! Love the colors and am left with a vital yearning for the clouds to clear for a good view of the peak. Very suspenseful, action-packed. Powerful image.

While I agree that the magenta is a bit strong, it works exceptionally well for me on an artistic level as well. The uncropped comp is pretty nice too!
