I'm liking the New Year, it has to be better than 2010..
About all one can hope for these days, such as things are.
F/7.1, 1/400th, ISO 640, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x ext and natural morning light. Mostly cloudy with the sun peeking through a bit here.
Shot yesterday in Central Texas, 85% of FF.

HAPPY NEW YEAR NPN!

Lovely shot Howard, with a terrific perch and background.

It's 5 below here. I'm not quite sold on 2011 yet.

Howard, I like the perch as much as the bird in this shot. Great stuff to look at all over those branches. Bird is nice too against a cool BG.

It's amazing what a difference an interesting perch makes, Howard. In this case it really changes what would otherwise be a shot of a bird partially obstructed by a branch to one where both branch and bird justifiably draw attention together. Branches and bird look nice and sharp too. :toast: :toast:
P.S.: Happy New Year!
