This plant just seems to call for more light - and warmth. Comments appreciated.

Steve: Under most circumstances this much negative space would seem excessive to me but here it works for me very nicely. Cropping to 5:4 would emphasize the flower a bit more but giving it this much room to "look" into the frame makes this a more dynamic comp for me. Top notch shot. >=))>

Beautiful color in the petals and nice comp. I agree with Bill Fach concerning the negative space - normally this might be considered too much, but it works wonderfully.

Steve, I like the orientation of this image and the space on the right works for me, also! I wish for a little more space on the left, but that is often easier said than done!
Happy New Year!

Steve:
Like the POV and colors in this shot. The stem arising from the corner looks a little odd and I would usually try to avoid this if at all possible. The negative space is more than usual but looks okay in this comp.

Steve,

Other than maybe sharpening the stem a touch and moving it up or right to get it out of the exact corner, I like this as posted. Appealing mood and I think the space creates a lot of that appeal. Very well done for my tastes.

Thank you for the feedback. Based on the suggestions, I moved the stem slightly away from the corner though I had very little room in the crop. I also added a small amount of sharpening to the stem.

Although the change is subtle I do prefer the second version. The large amount of empty space on the right provides a nice platform for copy; thus a nice stock shot too.

P.S. We're "neighbors"....I'm in Bothell.

Steve, the repost hits the nail on the head! As you said, the difference is subtle, but really strengthens the image. Beautifully done!

Hi Steve :wavey: An unorthodox composition that works well.the repost is better because of the light and placement of the flower. :wink

Lovely flower and curious perspective. The radiating petals imply lies that extend throughout the negative space. It's like an illusion and works very well for me!
