I think this photo is fairly minimal, partly because he ate everything that moved.
Taken after sunset at Brazos Bend SP (TX).

I very much like the simplicity of this image. I find it quite engaging. Well done Monica.

500mm is a good lense to macro Gators. What a great look you captured.

Very nice Monica. My only nit (personal) is that I wish it were cropped more all around, ie, put more emphasis on the gator. Great detail around the head too BTW. This would be great printed large.

Thanks everybody for the nice comments.
Dan, I took this "friend" with 100-400, so he was very close to me but not enough .....
Bill, I chose this comp because a larger crop would have given me a less minimalist effect, but I agree with you that the cropped version would have emphatized the detail. :wavey:

LOL!
Great entry for this week.
Maybe needs just a tiny CCW rotation?

You beat me to it. I had an image of an gator similar to this, but not nearly as good, so I posted a goose instead. The image is well scene and photographed.

Monica, this is a great image! WOW, how ever did you capture this (and stay safe!)? I really like this, perfect placement (composition), spot-on focus. Just great. To me this is the winning shot for the challenge. I prefer the space around him, it suggests that "looming danger" that's almost within your reach.

And your comment was hysterical!

Perfectly still water... wish it weren't so centered though.

I feel like I'm being watched (or more like being sized up). I like this a lot. Great image Monica.
