Taken last winter in 10 degree weather. The only post-processing I did was straighten a little.

It looks like you still have a bit of CW lean, assuming the ground is level. A well balanced and simple winter comp otherwise.

It does tell a story and I am getting cold hearing it. Very nice post!

Full of mood and nicely composed. I think a little sharpening might help it though.

I dont know about sharpening, but i think it could use something to get the tree to stand out a bi tmore--even with the fog, maybe play with the curve a bit. Otherwise very nice!
EDIT: i think on second look it may be the gray of the fog/snow--if it were white the tree would be more visible.

I tried to bring the tree out more. Did this help or make it worse?

Well, it's totally subjective--but it looks much better to me, mainly because i can see the tree now, and the tree is the interesting subject for me. The greater clarity somewhat negates the effect of the fog--but i think all the negative space here adequately says 'fog'. If it were me, the only further adjustment i would make is to neutralize the cyan a tiny bit. :wavey:
