This was taken on a quick overnight trip to Yosemite in early November. Thanks for looking. I've included a larger version as well.

Chris,

Nice... I know this tree and made a photo of it as well this year, but I did not position myself in the best spot so I did not like it. This one works nicely and I like that you have the falls in it as well.

Classic Yosemite scene. I love the way you placed the tree and waterfall in the composition so they balance each other. Great color palette, too.

It sure gives a nice perspective of the cliffs behind it. The colours look really nice. I might lighten the yellows a touch and darken the cliffs a touch. I think this would bring out the waterfalls better. Cheers

I was wondering when you would post something from that drizzley day. It was a wet one for sure. I like this view/perspective. I don't think I've ever walked this meadow. I think this loks about like the conditions would render it. I might try and bump the contrast to show off the background granite and falls a little better though too. I was nice to meet you there.

Christopher,

I was amazed we didn't see more photogs that weekend, but glad you were able to make it. I know this tree too but have never considered this comp; I really like it. I like how Yosemite Falls is really just a background accent and not the main focus of the image. Excellent composition. Although if I had a wish it would be for a bit more room along the bottom.

Processing wise, the large version shows much better, but I would agree with others that a bit of contrast adjustment in the granite wall could work pretty well. The yellow of the oak is a little pale to me and considering the conditions you could get away with some selective saturation. But that is of course a personal choice.

Very nice and a well-crafted image from the Valley.

Thanks so much for the comments! I truly appreciate it.

Chris- I was a pleasure meeting you as well! You mentioned Cataract Falls when I saw you. I went out there this morning, but didn't come away with much. Man, the light is brutal there!

Lon- I know what you mean about more room at the bottom. I was trying to eliminate some distractions, but I should have put more effort into re-positioning myself at the time of capture. I was hoping that the tree and the falls would been enough to distract from that flaw. You live and learn!

Thanks again everyone!

Chris

This is nice. The falls in the background are a nice touch. Could see upping the sat on the yellows just a bit.
