Ronnie, It must be that time of year LOL

The capture of the pair is great and I do have a couple of questions. Where you hand-holding or using a tripod? Do you have any problem using Autofocus with the TC17EII? I'm having a devil of a time using the TC with the 500. I have an older heavier 500 with no VR and I'm using the lens with a D700.

Thanks,

Carol

Hi Carol,
When shooting at the rookery I shoot from my truck window with a bean bag. Otherwise I use a tripod. Never handhold. I never had a problem with autofocus with the TC17EII and the 500mm VR mounted on my D200 . A few years ago I was using an old 400mm f/2.8d AF-I, vintage 1995. In low light it would lock focus but was not 100% accurate.

I love the interaction here. Hope to see this activity for myself someday. Lovely soft light. The environment definitely highlights the birds.

These are great egrets at their best. Love the green lores and the fluffy head and neck feathers. The backgrounds of your pictures are always so complementary, and this one is no exception. I do wish you could have gotten all of the egret in on the left, but I guess you just weren't paying them enough.

Stunning capture. I really enjoy the color contrast. Although it might be interesting in B&W, I think the color of this capture makes it an outstanding image. Great work.

Looks like a hen-pecked male to me, Ronnie! Interesting and beautiful shot. I like that you managed to capture the image of the male holding the branch without the branch blocking some vital part, notably the eye. Also, it's visually pleasing to have the lacy background with the more lacy bird and with the green background on the LHS being a nice contrast to the background on the RHS. :toast:

Ronnie,

I love the interaction between the two egrets, the great setting and the views of the beautiful green lores.
