Gazos Creek...

...deep in the Santa Cruz mountains. Drizzly and overcast here today so took a ride up the coast and into the Gazos Creek area. The further along the creek I went the thinner the overcast/fog became and the more the highlights on the deep green moss seemed glow, saying "stop here, shoot here..." Light fall-off in the redwoods is drastic and by the time it hits the forest floor is usually many "stops" less than the tree tops, which caused some problems in PP. The light on the edges of the hardwood tree trunks is what I was after, especially against the dark background of the redwoods and other foliage. And yes, it is that green.

I like this a lot, Reno. It is tough to compose in the middle of a forest and yours works really well. I am not on a calibrated monitor, but the highlights on the ferns and floor seem a bit hot, but that is really minor. Very well done.

Very nice, Mr. Reno! I agree with Harley's observations. I really like the mossy trees and the softer light on them.

I know those trees Reno, I know them well. You have them in some pretty contrasty light. Working among the redwoods is difficult, but you have a nice image here.
