Another bird photo from our recent trip to South Africa, this time it's a Masked Weaver from Addo NP. This one is cropped at about 85% of full and has been sharpened a bit but that's all. Any comments and suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Joe, thanks for your kind comment on my Cape Weaver. It was indeed taken at Domkrag Dam in Addo - well done on recognizing the spot! I like this one of the Masked Weaver, and co-incidently have a shot of a Cape Weaver in a virtually identical pose, also taken at Domkrag Dam. Will post it soon. Nico Henning

A really great perch for a very colorful bird Joe. Love the BG too. Bird is nice and sharp. My only small nit is the yellows on the side of the head are a bit bright on my calibrated monitor. Cool shot.

Beautiful image, Joe. The virant colors and head turn really speak out. Love the perch and overall comp.

Tame the yellow and hang it on a wall.

Joe, I agree with the very small nit mentioned - otherwise this is wonderful. Very nice detail.

Lovely pose and eye contact Joseph, also a very nice view of the reddish orange eye, Very nice detail and sharpness in the larger version especially, thanks for posting it. I'd bring down the yellow saturation slightly because the yellow behind the eye seem slightly bright, and by reducing the sat there more details are likely to show. Very easy to do. I love how well this bird stands out from the background and the colors in the background too.

Great pose for such a gorgeous bird. The yellows could be toned down a bit. Otherwise this is just a top notch image. Great details.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and kind words. I've never thought about "desaturating" an image converted from RAW before so certainly wouldn't have figured that out on my own. I also didn't notice the little green fynbos leaf until Rich pointed it out. Here's my admittedly weak attempt (I'm not that good with PSE) to clone out the leaf and bring the saturation of the yellows down by 10%, does seem to look better to me. Thanks again for the suggestions. Cheers!
