Nice capture Brian, judging by your camera settings the light must have been really low, otherwise I would have said you should have stopped down another f stop to get more of the fox in focus, but under the conditions I'd say you did well here as the most important part is sharp with very good detail.
P.S. The fox dosen't look like a happy camper with it's tail down, probably cold I guess.

I like the narrow dof, the bokeh is excellent. I agree with Gary M. that light must have been in short supply. The shutter speed is marginal for this focal length. I see a bit of a halo on the fox's back and the fur appears a bit coarse so I assume you had some softness in the original to overcome. All in all though I really like the net result, including the shy expression - pretty image.

The halo i think your referring to is actually snow not a halo as its on the original RAW file, and it had been raining all day so that could have some effect on the way the foxes fur is looking in the shot.
And yes she was probably cold and wet as i know i was

Glad you managed a couple. She was wet and cold with her fur none too pleasing for purists but I like her like that . Tis a fine capture and beautifully processed .The bump of halo over her bum/ass is a snow bank beyond I can confirm .Light was hard to come by with it p'ing it down some 10 minutes earlier.
I can confirm the fox is a happy camper , no major worries for her health and well being , she just doesn't like lifting that huge 3 year old tail of hers especially full of cold water.

Thank you Brian, I do see the oof snow banks behind the fox and to his left and right now that you explain it. The rain does explain the appearance of the fur as well. Forgot to mention that I really like the subdued color palette here.

Great exposure. Given the very wet looking fur, it would have been cool to have some of that H2O still in the air as you captured this! The subject is beautiful.

Beautiful fox and capture IMO Brian. I like the soft-ish light and the pose is just perfect.
