I had almost given up my search for the "right" Trillium this past Spring, when I came across this. I was really impressed with the 'metallic' look of the leaves. The flower had quite a bit of pollen on and had to be propped up on it's leaves as well.

Haven't seen many shots of these unique flowers. I really like the way you approached this, particularly with the black background. I'm a little unsure about the out of focus leaves toward the bottom of the frame, but that's not a dealbreaker by any means.

Hi Morgan, Beautiful detail and lovely flowers. Good stack, but not quite sure about the underneath foliage. Maybe a slight vignette might help but I don't know ....

Cheers,

Carol

Morgan:
A very beautiful flower and capture. The black BG works really well to showcase the bloom. Good stacking. As other has mentioned, the lower portion is a little untidy - wish that the lower sepal and petal tip were visible instead of been covered by the foliage.

It is so hard to find trilliums with their head up. You've positioned it well and the detail in the petals is amazing. They are getting harder and harder to find in my area. Nice job!

Gorgeous flower Morgan. The detail and sheen on the petals make this very appealing to me as well as the black bg. I do find the oof leaves below the horizontal edge a little distracting and might consider darkening them some with a gradient or maybe even cloning them out altogether. I can't look at this without wanting the threefold symmetry completed in the bottom green sepal? For my tastes, ideally your pov would have been a bit higher. Otherwise stunning.

Thanks so much for all the feedback everyone. I was able to work with the leaves so they are not as distracting now. Hopefully in 2 days I can post the edited update to see if it's any better.

Hi Morgan :wavey: Superb capture of a Trillium  The detail, light and color are all stunning. The OOF lower leaf does distract

This flower is striking! I like the black bg and look forward to seeing the worked image with the bottom portion addressed. Well done!

I have lost count of how many attempts I have made to photograph a Trillium flower. They grow on my property, so I have lots of opportunity, but I have not come close to the beauty of this photograph. I would say your search for the right one paid off!!

Thanks again for the wonderful feedback everyone. I've attached the adjusted version along with this reply. I cropped out most of the leaves and burned the one the flower is resting on. For those who are still viewing this thread, please let me know if you feel this is significantly better then the original post.

Thanks.

Stunning image Morgan. I definitely have a bias toward images of wild flora. The adjustments you made to the original are just what was needed IMO, bringing all the focus to the awesome trillium flower. Great detail in the petals and very nice lighting.

Morgan: I'm really jealous; we don't have these in my area. The repost is superb. I edited your title to reflect the repost. Its a good idea to let others know there has been a revision. >=))>
