Trossachs, Scotland

One of if not the very last exposure I made in Scotland. I couldn't resist stopping to photograph this scene even though it meant missing out on breakfast before departing for Edinburgh.

Canon 5DMkII, 85mm 1.2LMkII, ISO 100, f16, 1.3s, polarizer, tripod.

I really like the misty reflection Kah Kit. I think the clarity of the foreground and misty background work well together for some visual contrasts. Beautiful and tranquil scene.

The mist and the reflection work very well together. I find myself wondering if it would be more dramatic if you cropped the top off just above the boathouse?

Another dreamy shot! Love the detail in the foreground grasses. Their color is also a nice contrast to the background greens. The roof of the boathouse is a bit funky. Don't know if that's the real color or not but I find it detracts a bit from the overall scene. (Probably because "aqua" is my least favorite color! ) I kinda like the idea of a small crop off the top--around 10% or so. Very nice image. I can see why you chose to miss out on breakfast! :toast:

I think everything about this works very well, but I am curious about the "why" for the squarish comp.

Beautiful stuff. Love the colour and clarity of the foreground reeds.

I tend to agree on the crop although I think the colour balance of the overall shot is lessened for it.

Very simple and great atmosphere. The bit of color on the building really makes this photo work, IMO. :toast:

Interesting how we all have different tastes and perspectives... for me, I'm a sucker for these types of shots, and that LUSH forest that lookslike an oil painting has me itching to be hiking in it. That's the LAST thing I'd crop, lol! The combo with the misty lake and the boathouse is a winner for me. Kah Kit, if you were to crop this, I'd actually say remove half the height of the golden reeds from the bottom, not because they don't look good, but because the brightness of them keeps drawing my eye, and I want to spend my time on the lake and in that forest. But honestly, the framing all feels right, this is a beautiful image, and I bet it would look tremendous in a huge print.

Thanks for your comments. I don't think a crop from the top works because bisecting the purple stripped birch trees seems a little brutal.
