Technicolor Terrace

After seeing many of the must sees in Zion, I found a bit of solitude and hopefully more original compositions in Zion's backcountry. The stark bleeched pines contrasted nicely with the colorful foliage and walls.

A lot to look at here, Harry and it does showcase both Zion's color and geology well. The small size doesn't do it justice. What's the cause of all the dead trees here? Fire?

Harry, this is right up my alley! This is a wonderful abstract with an absolutely fitting title to the image! The lines although confusing at first certainly come together after looking at this for a bit! And the spot of color throughout are icing on the cake! Wonderful, Wonderful! :toast: :toast:

This is a very interesting view. Nice colors in a different comp, and I like it. Makes me feel like I'm falling into the scene. Nice work, Harry.

Many images from in and around Zion NP over the years here at NPN, but this really is a very different and fresh perspective on that wonderful area, Harry. A truly unique one IMO. Nice work.

I find it very disconcerting that so many pine trees have died. :frown:

Lovely composition Harry. This showcases the area's unique geology well. Plenty here to keep your attention.

Wonderful large scale abstract Harry. The scale is deceiving. I had to look twice. Beautiful work full of wonderful colors, lines, and textures.

Great eye Harry to capture this the way you did. Looks almost like a miniature scene, lovely colors too.

Thanks for all of the feedback - Marc, looks like a burn to me. Some trees in the shot are blackened, maybe difficult to see in these small versions. Past some other burns on the way up as well.

I must say, a few mileas away from the Zion Valley there are many unique images to be had, just not time. I often had to shoot quickly and play catch up to my 2 buddies who I went out to Zion with. Not photographers, but definately knew their way around hot tubs!

Thnaks for the input :wavey:

I like this image for its wide palette of colors & textures. A non-iconic shot from the area that expands my understanding of what Zion has to offer.

Ah yes, just noticed the larger version and the burnt trees (2 years now and I still forget we have larger versions on NPN). Makes for an additional interesting pattern the way the fire seemed to have almost randomly spared some.

This is great Harry, certainly a unique view and perspective. I really like the lines of the hills and cliff radiating towards the center, makes for a cool composition.

Incredible color and texture contrasts in this! You found a great vantage point to shoot this from. The contrast looks pretty good to me, but it might be just a tad bright.

Gorgeous scene, Harry. I can see some nice horizontal possibilities also, and maybe a square crop of the top half.

Fantastic Harry. Love the strong diagonals lending a very graphic element to a wonderful, almost abstract image. Superb, unique view of Zion. Really well done.

Ack, so many dead trees! Rather hope the cause is fire and not the blasted beetle... Anyway, this is amazing! Dizzy-ing perspective actually enhances the image beause of the tension of the lines of the cliffs merging and diverging. Cool. And the colors- grand!

Very nice non-traditional view of Zion. I've been there a couple of times and have wanted to get up to Kolob and just haven't had an opportunity yet.
