Spinning, Swirling.... (w/Repost)

Still Descending. Like a spiral sea, unending!

I was making my way up the Lynn Camp Prong in the Tremont area of the Great Smoky Mountains NP last month when I came across this wonderful eddy in the creek. I have seen photos of leaves in eddies before but never had the opportunity to make one myself. It was fun playing around with the different shutter speeds and seeing the effects. Hope you like it.

C&C always welcome!

That's a lot of movement and leaves in 6 seconds. The beautiful background matches the awesome foreground, often a weakness in shots like this. :toast:

This really works. Very beautiful image with a very balanced composition. I really like that you put the camera so close to the swirl.

Not only is the eddy enticing, but the scenery behind is gorgeous took and fits well with the foreground swirl. Nicely done.

Beautiful, Phillip! I have always wanted to capture
this kind of scenic. I also like the intensity of the
colors throughout.

Wonderful, Phillip. The creek and forest behind the swirl add so much to this too. I love the light.

Phillip,

That swirl is phenomenal, it just pulls you in. I love how you can sense the speed increasing as you move further out from the center. And its in a beautiful setting.

A beautiful forest scene, Phillip. The light on the bg trees makes this a great shot for me. I also like the way my eye wanders up and down the stream. The massive swirl of leaves in the fg sure is an eye-catcher, and offers a big contrast in movement to an otherwise tranquil scene.

This is excellent, a lovely interpretation of this scene. I might have tried a little wider angle to take in all of the swirl but this is an outstanding image just as it is.

I've photographed a few eddy's  and this is quite a nice one!

IMO you have framed this composition perfect with the surrounding environment.

The foreground is awesome here, but it doesn't stop at that. This is not "just another spinning leaf shot" because you've also captured a very captivating background. The trees have a very luminescent, and refreshing light quality to them.

My only nit is the bit of rock that pokes into the lower left side of the photo -- mid swirl.

Lovely colours in the forest and what a fantastic swirl. 6 sec seems just the apt shutter speed amongst the lot.

The light on the bg is great and really sets the mood for the spiral of leaves in the fg. Really strong image Phillip, I like it.

I like the way you play with slow shutter speed to create this effect. The composition and color of this image are also beautiful.
