Hi Sandipan,
Ooohhh...I quite like this one! Nice "focus contrast" between the subject and that creamy, smooth background. And, a very pleasing colour palette, at least to my eye. My only suggestion is that if this is a crop (and if you have more room to the left AND right of the hyena), I'd experiment with shifting the hyena to the RIGHT a little more in the frame - I don't think it needs quite that much space behind its tail. If you don't have pixels for this, that same adjustment would take about 20 seconds in Photoshop CS4 or CS5 (Content Aware Scaling) if you're OK with that kind of adjustment.
Cheers...thanks for sharing this one...that head and stare is just GREAT!

Nice soft tones in this and a great capture of a lesser-seen species. Totally agree with Brad regarding the crop and placement of the subject.

Beautiful lighitng and a great subject... I relaly like the huge erect ears. I think this photo could benefit from more room on the left and less on the right.

Thanks everybody for the comments.
Brad,
Here is the re-post as suggested. This is a cropped image and hence didn't have to try "Content Aware Scaling" but appreciate your suggestion. I was not aware of this feature and will make use of it where I need.

Hi Sandipan,
I prefer the re-post! On the Content Aware Scaling: make sure you have a look at how to "protect" portions of an image (all it amounts to is making a crude selection of the area that you DON'T want distorted at all, naming & saving that selection, and then making sure you specify what area is to be protected in the controls of Content Aware Scaling - sounds more complicated than it is).
Cheers...

Great almost monochromatic image. Very nice techs. The DOF really places this hyena in a BG which is similar in color. Love it.

Great light and I like the warm tones. Like the head turn and the eye contact as well.
