The Canyon at Moran
by Doug Koepsel
With a forecast of a front with snow and rain and hopes of some sun playing upon the clouds and snowfall, I took a short drive from Flagstaff to the Grand Canyon to try out a new Nikon 16-35 f/4.
The front arrived with 20-30 MPH winds with higher gusts, but did allow some morning sun to cross to the north rim Saturday morning. The other 3 mornings and evenings were overcast and windy. I like how the sunlight kisses the rock outcropping and brush in this image.
As always, open to comments and suggestions for improvement.

Boy, the large version sure makes a difference here. I really like the last (or first?) light catching the tops of both the foreground and background rim. What is most fascinating to me is the "crumbling" formations. It almost feels like big chunks could fall off at anytime - even while I'm watching this!
And I see the Winnebego too! although it took a minute to find it. How did they get it up there?

That tourist's Winnie must have a 4WD conversion and good winch. Guess we should move this to man and nature
