This is an image from October 2008 when Harley Goldman and I were toodling around the Bishop Creek area.

I recently reworked this image to make it a little warmer, and cropped it a bit to better balance the composition.

Tachihara 4x5
180mm Fujinon
f22@1s
Astia 100-F

Wow, I really dig this one Preston! What I like so much here is that it look very "real". Many compositions are simplified to a point where they look almost sterile, but this one here has a very organic and alive look. Great light too.

The shine on the boles is grand! Excellent exposure to capture that and the color of the leaves. Very well done.

I really like this a lot, I do wish there was a little more space on the LH side. Nonetheless, a well crafted image.

Beautiful color and feel. I love the aspens and yellow leaves, great exposure. I think the comp is very nice as you have it, but could also see just a bit more room on the left side (just a little.) This is really pretty to look at, and I could look at it all day. Nice work, Preston.

Real sweet image, Preston! It shows a great fall aspen scene the way it looks and is very well done.

Preston,

This is a stunning photo. Can't imagine why it has not gotten more comments. The color is mesmerizing and the silvery trunks of those aspens puts this over the top of me.

Would you be interested in a print trade?

This is really superb, Preston. The light gracing these aspens is beautiful, and I really enjoy the symmetry of your composition and the warm carpet of aspen leaves. Outstanding.

Preston,

This is wonderful! Not only is the processing, colors, contrast, etc. etc. superb, I think this image really captures the essence of the Sierra Nevada in the fall.

Now you did mention this was already cropped. I'm wondering which part because I would agree with some other comments that I am wishing for a little more room on the left. Perhaps about the same spacing as to the right of the trees on the other side. But a minor suggestions for a beautifully captured image.

Lon

ps. - so where are the Yosemite images?

I really like the light here Preston, has a lovely soft quality to it. The comp doesn't quite work for me, I'm not sure about the central placement of the middle aspen.

Preston,

The comment from my daughter Zaynab was meant from me. She did not log out from her last visit to the ESS gallery and I assumed I was logged in.

The way the light hits the trunks in front really brings out the depth of the scene.

Preston, the Astia really does a nice job with the yellows and greens, might the best for these aspens out of all the Fuji transparencies. The comp really shows the quality of these small groups of aspens we see on the eastern side. Although you did not post a larger version, even at this standard size it comes out with excellent detail and no noticeable compression issues we typically see with our aspen shots.

Preston,

Those close Aspen trunks just 'Glow" and make this image a stunner.

Very smooth composition Preston. And I have to say that I'm impressed by how well Astia seems to suite your style. Beautiful light and a nice capture.
