Shot this Cape Weaver in Addo National Park, South Africa this past September. There are a number of weaver colonies throughout the park that are good for photographing weavers. Comments and critiques greatly appreciated, thanks for looking.

Very nice image as posted. Excellent detail; nice exposure.

What strikes me most is how much the plumage looks like the Streak-backed Oriole here in North America.

That's a really striking bird with beautiful colours. I like your composition and I like the head turn and the way his eyes are focused on something. I tend to find that yellows are not the easiest of colours to bring out detail but you've done a fine job here. Graham

Great pose and perch. Some fill flash would open up the shadows.

Great looking image. Intensity in the bird stare is terrific. The larger image is a must to appreciate the quality of detail and sharpness. Well done.

Thanks folks! It is amazing how closely the weavers resemble some of our North American birds even though they behave very differently. Their large colonial nests are just an amazing sight to see. Thanks again, glad you all enjoyed the photo.

Nice one Joe - I fondly remember the weavers from southern Africa and the numerous photo opportunities they presented. Like the head turn on this one

cheers
