Out on a Limb

Took some time to photograph the birds in my backyard today. This female House Finch is waiting it's turn on the feeder.

I did some beak clean up and cloned a small oof branch on the RH side.
Sharpen for web in CS3 using TK's less Halos action.

Nikon D300 w/500mm f/4
1/400sec. f/5.6 ISO400
Tripod. Abode Kitchen Blind.

Thanks for looking.

Joel, a simple, clean presentation. Nice, even light. Interesting how the finch both blends in with and stands out against the background.

Really a unique look to this shot with the color of the BG and the bird. Really sharp. Very nice.

Joel,

This image has a stunning simplicity to it that I enjoy very much. Great pose, light, setting, details, sharpness and comp. I wouldn't change a thing.

Super clean with an awesome perch... looks like Dan's mountain bluebird shots but with a different bird! Only suggestion is lowering the exposure a bit as everything seems a little too light.
