Nice first image Ron, the center seems to be a bit soft i wud have like to focus on that (but that a personal choice) 1 more nit, i'd clone out the petal edge at the top of the image

Welcome to the gallery Ron. I think this is a fine first post. I like the radial lines and yellow that emphasize the center. Here are some things that might be worth trying to see if you think they improve the image:

You might want to center the image in the vertical plane to emphasize the symmetry and maybe go to a square crop.

The bent petal coming back into the image is a bit distracting. You might clone it out.

You might darken the bright lower part of the image and brighten the center - assuming the center is your main focal point.

You might want to sharpen the center a bit.

If you try any of these suggestions and like them, great, if not that's fine too. It's a good looking image as posted. I hope to see many more from that 105.

Welcome to the Flora forum Ron. Wonderful first post I might add. Good control of the whites with fine detail and textures throughout. Consider cloning out the small triangle of petal at upper right is my only suggestion.

Very good first post; looking forward to seeing many more!

Nice perspective with some good textures. You will love the 105mm... it's such a fast lens with great bokeh and can be used well with teleconverters

Welcome to the gallery. Fine first post. Some good suggestions have already been made, so I will not repeat them. I will add one more, however. I see you shot this at f13, 1/60, iso 800, HH. When shooting macro (I consider this image in that category), use a tripod. Pretty difficult to HH and keep everything tack sharp at this size even at 1/60. Also helps in fine tuning the comp and using an optimum iso. Just my opinion. Others with steadier hands may disagree. Have fun with the 105. It's a great lens. :wavey:
