The Mix
by Wayne Jones
There is foliage from at least seven tree species in this little cascade -- a mix of leaves getting mixed up by the current. I confess that I added a leaf (the crimson red maple) to this to balance the red of the sugar maple leaf in the upper right. I rarely arrange elements in pictures because I usually don't like the results, but I had to try this. It was pretty conspicuous when I found it, so I don't think adding another leaf made it look any more "set-up." Does it look OK?
I shot this at several different shutter speeds, from 1/30 sec. to 2.5 sec, and this is my favorite, showing motion, but preserving details of the water, too.
