Looks pretty good for ISO 1600. It would be nicer if you could lighten up the left side of the BG.

Karen, this looks really nice. It looks like you handled the exposure very well and I love the fact the owl is not looking at you. Most of the time I like direct eye contact, but here the bird is in its own world so to speak and it works for this image. Habitat and BG work for me. I do with the wire fence was older and rusty or something, but hey, you can't always get a perfect perch. I would love just to see one of these owls out during the day. Also, posting the larger image would help reviewers in their critiques. The more detial visible the better. Cheers.

Hi Karen,
Lovely image, I think the dark BG adds a little emphasis to the Barn Owl which stands out beautifully, top shot.
I'm sat in a hotel room, in Norfolk, as I type this and I'll be photographing Barn Owl's in the morning

To me the light is wonderful. I like the inclusion of the tall weeds, or are they some sort of grain stalks? LOvely composition, Karen.

Hi Karen: Welcome to NPN. Thank you for posting this on the Avian forum. I really like the quality of the light. Great job with the exposure as well. As noted, you can optionally post a larger version that is 1200 pixels on the long edge. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Very likable image, Karen. Exposure is well handled. I like the space you chose for the bird to look into.

This image is just stunning. I wouldn't change a thing (maybe less border)

This is lovely Karen. I like the light, all of the background as it is and the grasses on the right. And the owl is great. That said, it's quite difficult to really evaluate this image at only 645 pixels, minus the frame. I hope you'll post larger in the future. And that you'll comment on the images of others when you feel comfortable in doing so - it's a great learning tool.

I like the wonderful side light and detail looks pretty good for iso of 1600. I wonder if you have a vertical since the dark background would really show off the owl and then maybe the wire would not be so distracting, however it is still a wonderful shot, well seen and welcome to NPN.
