River Fingers w/vertical

Wow, lots of sick images on the front page today :toast:

This is another from my recent trip to Maine. I have lots more stuff to edit through so it's kind of nice to have some new work to share for a change. I'm looking for some honest feedback on this one and the vertical post below. I was loving it in the field and worked the comp pretty darn hard and now I'm sort of on the fence, I like it just don't know if it's representative of the "A" list. What do think, which do you prefer? Don't worry I've got thick skin

For what is worth my 3 three year old daughter prefers the horizontal which is why it's posted first. When I asked her why she said "because of all the sparkly water."

I like it because of all the toothpicks that you threw in the water. What a neat effect!

Hi Kurt. VERY pretty. Vertical for me - because of the feeling of more depth to the image.

I know dude, it was a killer finding 10 boxes of orange toothpicks in Bar Harbor.

Very cool shot. Vertical for me also though I gravitate towards vertical when there's any type of water fall/stream.

Love the repeating patterns and shapes, nice work.

Gotta go with the vertical, but that's just me. Very nice.

I also like the vertical Kurt. More depth and more toothpicks. Seriously, the pattern of water flow is more appealing to me in the vertical version.

Neat idea to crate a image from this pattern. I like the vertical better as the pattern feels larger and with a slightly better comp.

Definitely the vertical on this one Kurt. The pattern of the water and the pine needles, er toothpicks, works exceedingly well in the vertical composition. I love the contrasts you achieved in the falling water areas; the underlying dark rocks, together with your processing, give such wonderful contrast. This is gorgeous.

This is uber cool, Kurt. I, too, like the sparkly water and the horizontal version better.

Kurt,

Wow, I love both of these. I think they're outstanding! They speak autumn to me - I guess because of the "toothpicks" telling me it's that time of year. Yet this is almost void of color. What a great job of isolating these two versions in this stream. I'm really loving both versions! No nitpicks from me.

Great use of lines in both, and I think I prefer the vertical because the flow of those lines is continuous. :toast:

Well I enjoy the vertical version more, because of the way the general shapes and patterns fill up the composition. I do like the way the underwater needles are more defined in the horizontal though. I hope I'm right on this one, because it would be quite a blow to my ego to not be as smart as a three year-old. Nice work all around!
