Leaf in a Creek

Billions of leaves fall every year but only a few have a "time in the sun".

This is a small creek in NE Kansas, USA, which gave such a leaf its time in the sun.

This photo could be construed as "too busy" and I would not argue.

It does have a lot of color.

Taking a photo into the sun in problematic with highlights.

I chose not to use polarization but perhaps made a bad choice.

Comments appreciated.

I like the dappled reflections of the blue sky mixed with the clear view of the green bottom of the creek! As for being too busy..maybe. but a tight crop to include only the water and the leaf would isolate and emphasize the leaf. Nice

Hi Larry,
This is a very nice view of a very simple subject and I really like both your concept and your excution.

It might be a simple subject, but the scene is complex with lots of variety. The well-handled light makes it very viewable and enjoyable.

I think a shot that isolated the stream and leaf would have been special--and the reflections would add to the abstract quality. The stuff in the ulhc doesnt help any IMO.

I like what you've done with the image, Larry, and I don't think it's busy, especially since it's clean around the leaf, which is the center of attention, and the details seem to radiate out from there.
