Texas Gray Fox

I had a brief encounter with the elusive Gray Fox early this morning.
It stopped just long enough for me to get off 5 or 6 frames.
Barely fit em' in, this is full frame. In shade..
F/6.3, 1/320th, ISO 640, Canon 1D M3, 300mm f.2.8 + Kenko 2x tele. I have just changed over to a larger Samsung 27" LCD, so let me know how the image looks for brightness. It's my main concern as the monitors default setting seems very bright..
Thank you in advance for your comments :wavey:

Great detail and color! This is a really good shot Howard, but looks to be a little dark.

Thanks for sharing!

I love this, Howard. Nice job, you "got the shot" under pressure. My monitor is not calibrated, but the brightness looks good to me. :toast:

Howard, A great week for foxes on NPN!
Very nice image - great pose, nice habitat, good colors. Seems just a tad dark to me - you might have toned it down a little too much, if you felt your new monitor was too bright.

I agree, it is a bit too dark. Nice image though.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR FEEDBACK ON THE BRIGHTNESS LEVEL..
So I've + brightness 10%, and + contrast 5 for this repost. It was shot in shade, so it would tend to look cool or not real bright anyway.
I've set the brightness level on the Samsung at 80%...
By George I think I've got it :wavey:

Hi Howard,

Lovely shot! Great sharpness given you were using the 2x converter (my sigma 2x has never really given satisfactory results, but its secondhand and I think its been dropped at some point  ) I can't really comment on the brightness as I'm on a laptop at the moment, but it looks alright. If this were mine I would have tried to give him a bit more room top and especially bottom, but it's always difficult when working with prime lenses!

cheers,

Billy

Sweet Gray Fox photo Howard. The re-post is better to my eyes.

Cool Shot, Howard.
I agree it's a tad tight, but no big deal given the subject.
2nd looks best here.

These are really nice looking animals and you got him in a nice pose with a good BG. A little tight as noted but I'd certainly take this one for a keeper. OP brightness looks okay to me but repost looks good too.

And, by George, you've got it - the second time 'round! Lovely specimen!

A learning experience for me seeing the Gray Fox, quite a bit different than the Red Fox. The grassy environment frames him beautifully, although just a hair tight at the bottom. :toast:
