I found this nice bull, late August, in Jasper National Park.
D90; f7.1; iso 320; 1/80 sec
Levels, curves, sharpening, a bit of saturation.
Comments and critiques welcomed and appreciated.

Very impressive bull! The soft lighting works well and you got some nice eye contact. Nice shot!

Good POV and I like the head's up pose Dan.
Just the right amount of space with excellent details.
Great job on the PP, colors look very natural :toast:

I cannot even imagine walking around with a structure like that on my head  ; what a rack! Technically (exposure, DOF, colors, sharpness, processing, etc) this look good Dan. What it lacks a bit IMO is something to grab the viewers attention more. The dull lighting does not help much in that respect. What might have been an option (without knowing the shooting conditions of course) would be to achieve a lower angle to make this large bull look more impressive. Did you try to convert this to B&W? The reddish fur color with the contrasting green habitat may work very well to make the bull stand out much better in B&W than in color.

What a friggin' monster!! I have seen these guys basically step over a 6' fence near GTNP...Those antlers are amazing. Were you able to get any captures of him with his head turned a little?

Beautiful specimen. Nice detail too. Colors look very natural for this soft light. A slight head turn toward you might have added the little extra that Vincent mentioned.

Truly a beauty, in absolute prime condition! By this time he is bedraggled by the exertions of the rut. I really like this view of him. In a perfect world you might have had a touch of low warm lighting, but you have handled this very well.
