This morning was the first time I've had the chance to get this species at reasonably close range. This bird was almost constantly on the move browsing and digging in the tidal pools. Shot at medium low tide in Gulfport. Larger image included.

Looks good to me as posted. I wish they were more common in AZ - its been many years since I've seen any in person.

This is very good Bill. I like it a lot. The wonderful light and leg pose are great. I also like the blues at both top and bottom.

Bill,

Great pose, raised foot, light and setting. The warm colors of the bird & sand are lovely with the blue of the water. Nice eye contact, view of the long bill, natural colors, sharpness and details. Your angle isn't shabby either. Well done.

Thanks, all, for your comments. I worked this godwit, and a couple of willets for quite some time this weekend, but was more interested in the godwit, as it seems to be much less common around here. Rich, I've only seen them a couple of times here in Gulfport the last couple of months. Will have to keep that time of the seasion in mind. I was fortunate that I was able to approach this one slowly and get a few decent images.
