Flowers of August

I made this image in August on a trip to the Sonora Pass country in the Sierra. With winter heading to the mountains, I reflect warmly on cool high mountain days and lush meadows.

Very pretty. The blurred water isn't really to my tastes, as I'd have preferred it to be sharp like everything else is, but that's the sum of my nits. Well done overall.

Preston,

You know I like this very much. I would echo my comments in CANP that IMO, I think it's a little on the bright side. I think by dropping the mid tones down just a tad, the colors would become richer - and without appearing too saturated or unnatural. This is a beautiful and quaint little scene that so much encompasses the essence of a place you call home.

It's a shame that a photograph like this can travel across the opening page of the ESS gallery receiving disappointingly little attention. It's well crafted composition and gorgeous subject leave a lasting impression on those that take the time to really see it, but the masses will miss the experience.

I only see room for mid-tone darkening in the central section of vegetation, if there's any need at all.

I still like this, Preston, no matter what forum it's in. Yes, it could be darker, but not necessary. There's a range of tolerance in which a few versions will all be acceptable.
