From early November of 2005 on the Tennessee side in GSMNP. One of the best fall color trips I've made there.

Man, some amazing fall colors Bill. We don't have anything quite like that in Wyoming. We have the mountains...just not the amazing variety of red, yellows, and oranges that reside in your neck of the woods. Truly beautiful comp and image. One of my favorites of this batch of fall shots on this site this year.

Beautiful colors, indeed!! Love the mix and the few bare trees add a lot of depth.

What a display! Personally, past peak and pre-peak are the real 'peaks' of fall color for me. The bare trees add a lot.

Maybe a bit past peak, but this is magical, Bill. The leafless trees scattered about the array of fall colors make the image for me.

The bare trees add a nice break in the stillcolorful ones. I like like mix, and really prefer it. Like an Oreo cookie, the white center adds to the cookie more so than if it was all chocolate. Your photo is better than my analogy!

One of these days I'll have to witness this in person. Until then I'll just have to enjoy fine images of this spectacle like this. Nice work!

This is simply drop dead gorgeous :toast: The bare trunks add more interest to the scene IMO so "past peak" is a good thing. The colors are amazing.

Bill,

"Past Peak" is looking pretty gorgeous here! I actually really like that there are some trees without leaves breaking up and separating that beautiful, rich color. I just love these tight shots of hillsides of trees and color. Beautiful.

I might selectively tone down the red in the LL quadrant, but that's minor.

On the one hand, the large area included in the photo give the impression of a vast, and even endless expanse of beautiful colors. On the other, it make any kind of defining structure a little hard to come by. There are always balancing acts to be performed.
