Snowy Reflection

While attempting to try various settings to capture white birds,at the suggestion of one of our members (David Haynes),I tried setting negative exposure compensation. This may have been a bit to much, but I liked the results even though it does not represent the actual lighting conditions. I tried my first cloning process on the LRC to get rid of a clump of mud. Also I adjusted the exposure up just a bit. Comments and suggestions are appreciated

A white bird against a dark background can indeed be a tricky exposure. You nailed it.
Terrific reflection!
I love to shoot birds with reflections and I will try to get as low as I can without adversely affecting the reflection. Terrain permitting, a lower angle here would have made a more pleasing portrait of the snowy without hurting the reflection.

Hi Harry, I agree with Buck on the low angle suggestion but after that...beautiful white against the blue! I like it's intensity also.

Beautiful results in this one, Harry. You nailed the exposure of the whites. The bright blue water gives the impression of using a polarizing filter to my eye. I agree it's not quite natural, but I still like it. :toast:

Hi Harry,

I like the pose of the egret, the beautiful reflection, the ripples and the texture of the water. The blues do seems strong, not just for the water but the shadowed parts of the egret too. I think you could desaturate the blues a bit and have a stronger image. If possible a lower angle may have made it stronger too. I think you handled the whites well.
