End of Summer
by Russell Colletta
A friend recently lent me a manual focus 200mm f2 lens that has been sitting in his closet for years. I was anxious to try it on a 1.5 crop factor digital camera, with the resulting effect of a 300mm f2. The incredibly shallow depth of field was a hoot to play with. It's not really a macro shot, this lens only focuses to to about 8 feet, and it took time getting used to not having things snap into focus when I touched the release. Found a few subjects but kinda like this back lit Mule's Ear in faded glory. C&C welcome.

7 commentsI think this is fantastic! A wide open long lens will most definitely let you go wild with selective focus and I think you've crafted this wonderfully. Not only is the shallow dof excellent, but I think the light and color is even better. There's a very nice back lit glow to this standing leaf and I'm really loving this image. Excellent job keeping the main leaf sharp top to bottom.
Excellent job with this! I love it.
