Sony A700
Minolta 200mm macro
ISO 200, 1/5 @ f11, -1.3 fill flash

Well my son's home anyway. We're visiting him, his wife and four of our grandchildren in Birmingham. This is one of his neighbor's knockout roses that I could not pass on this morning. Caught some nice backlight and dew and threw a little fill into the shadows. All comments welcome. >=))>

Absolutely gorgeous Rose, Bill.

The dew is fantastic. Would suggest cropping from the bottom just enough to remove the leaves. I think they distract the viewer from the wonderful rose.

Sounds as though you have your hands full with four grandchildren. WOW! Have fun.

Cheers,

Carol

Very nice, Bill.
The dew drops add a lot to this wonderful image. I like the perfect BG and the backlight.

Beautiful rose Bill, with the dew but it's the light and bg that make the image for me. Perfect dof to create the subject/ground separation and still keep enough of the rose sharp. For me, the leaves at the bottom add interest while still being subordinate image elements. I think they add a lot to the composition. A fine rose and a perfect image of it.

Bill, I'm glad you included a larger version because the detail in the petal and the fine dew drops are really showcased in this back lit beauty. Nice soft background to go with the soft lighting -beautiful use of the flash. You made this look easy. :toast:

Bill, Lovely and my kind of Rose  . That slanted composition is magical and dew makes the aesthetic appeal go up several notches . If you intend to make this into a greeting card, then may be cropping the bottom is nice but as a Floral Photo, it works quite well for me :toast:

The larger version is VERY IMPRESSIVE as one that loves detail this is quite good Bill. The petal texture and dew, for me, really make this such a pleasing image.

Excellent specimen Bill. Great shot of the dew. I really like the BG. Not sure about the leaves right on the edge of the shot - I think I might crop those away.

Wow, this is so pretty Bill. I love the delicate nature of this, and of course the color. Glad to have you in my part of the world too. My daughter lives in Bham. Enjoy the nice weather they're having.

I am sorry, Bill, but I love the neighbor's roses more then your son's. May be it's the same rose, but the backlit dew is a jewel to admire. A photo worthy of a regal flower.
Cheers.
